DIY Rocking Chair

Good morning Y'all,

I have been doing a lot of redoing old furniture lately, so I wanted to post a how to project on my blog.

How to redo an old wooden chair?

For this project, I chose to take an old rocker that I had previously painted. I wanted to distress the old rocker. I chose the color white to match my other furniture. To give it character, I didn't sand the old green color off so that it would show through the parts I will sand down to look distressed.

Supplies Needed:

Paint Brush
Paint (either can be chalk or semi-gloss)
Sand paper
Gloves
An old wooden chair or rocker

Step 1:

First, make sure the rocking chair is dust free and clean. You can just wipe it off with a rag to ensure no dust is on it.

Step 2:

Now you can begin painting. There is no need for sanding unless the paint used before is high glass. If it is high gloss, lightly sand the project piece. Make sure to let dry in between coats. Wash your brush properly in between as a good brush can make all the difference on a project.

Step 2:

Once you are all done painting, take some. I recommend using sandpaper blocks as its easier to use. You can find them on Amazon at the following link. Then, you will need to lightly sand the edges you would like to distress. This step can be done to what you want. You can sand to the extent of distress you would like on the project. Afterwards, make sure to wipe down the project properly before bringing inside.

Good luck on your project!
